ZOMBO DISTRICT
Zombo District is set to host a three-day Agricultural Trade Show and Coffee Conference from November 11 to 13, 2026, as local leaders seek to promote agricultural production, strengthen market linkages and attract investment into the sector.
The event, organised by Zombo District Local Government, will take place at the Kyambogo University Paidha Campus playgrounds under the theme, “Building a Climate Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Agro-Industrialization and Market Linkages.”
The show is expected to bring together farmers, agricultural experts, government officials and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, showcase modern farming technologies and explore opportunities for better access to markets, with particular emphasis on coffee production.
Zombo District LC V Chairperson James Oruna Oyulu says the event will provide a platform to showcase the district's agricultural potential and promote opportunities for farmers and agribusiness investors.
The District Agricultural Officer, Patrick Aneniu, says the conference comes at a time when farmers are facing challenges associated with climate change, pests and poor post-harvest handling, which continue to affect coffee quality and market prices.
Aneniu says the event will provide an opportunity to share practical solutions that can improve agricultural productivity, strengthen coffee value chains and increase farmers' earnings.
Beyond agriculture, the district also intends to use the event to promote its tourism potential.
Zombo District Tourism Officer Jovian Kayenparwoth says the district has unique tourism attractions that remain largely unexplored by many Ugandans, adding that the agricultural show will offer an opportunity to showcase these sites to visitors and potential investors.
Charles Ezama, representing the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, is also expected to contribute to discussions on agricultural development and the promotion of sustainable farming practices.
With preparations underway at the Kyambogo University Paidha Campus playgrounds, stakeholders are optimistic that the three-day event will strengthen collaboration among farmers, government agencies and private-sector players.
Assistant Resident District Commissioner Isaac Wurochi says the initiative is expected to create opportunities for farmers and other stakeholders in Zombo and the wider West Nile sub-region to improve agricultural production and access better markets.
The event comes as Uganda continues to promote climate-resilient agriculture and agro-industrialisation as pathways to improving household incomes, creating employment and strengthening the agricultural value chain.
