 A Sudanese military transport plane crashed late Tuesday during takeoff from Wadi Seidna military airport, killing at least 46 people, including high-ranking officers and civilians. 

The Antonov aircraft went down in the Karrari district of Omdurman, striking a residential house and causing significant damage to nearby properties.

Among the dead is Major-General Bahr Ahmed, a senior commander in Khartoum, along with other military personnel and civilians.

 The crash also led to widespread power outages in the area.Military sources attribute the accident to technical issues, though an official investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.

Rescue teams and emergency responders worked through the night to recover bodies and assist the injured. Authorities have yet to release the full list of casualties, but the death toll could rise as more information emerges.

This incident adds to Sudan's ongoing security and infrastructure challenges, as the country remains in the grip of conflict between rival factions of the armed forces.
