Koboko, Uganda – The Territorial Police in Koboko District have recovered a firearm in an ongoing security operation, according to Collins Asea, the Police Spokesperson for the West Nile region.
The recovery was made during a routine patrol as law enforcement intensified efforts to curb illegal possession of firearms and criminal activities in the region. Asea confirmed that investigations are underway to establish the origin of the gun and whether it had been used in any criminal activities.
"The recovered firearm is now in police custody as we carry out further forensic analysis. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to security agencies," Asea stated.
Authorities have not yet disclosed whether any arrests have been made in connection with the weapon. However, police have assured residents of continued operations to enhance security in Koboko and the broader West Nile sub-region.
The recovery comes amid heightened security concerns in the region, with law enforcement agencies working closely with the community to prevent crime and maintain law and order.
Police have encouraged locals to cooperate by providing any information that could help in tracing illegal firearms, emphasizing the importance of community-police partnerships in ensuring safety.
