The Ministry of Local Government has directed the interdiction of senior officials in Maracha District following an inspection conducted by Minister of State for Local Government, Balaam Barugahara.
The directive was reportedly issued to the Maracha District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ben Kumumanya, following Balaam’s recent visit to the district as part of his ongoing anti-corruption and service-delivery monitoring programme.
The minister’s inspection focused on government projects and service delivery, with particular attention to how public resources are being utilised and whether projects are being implemented in line with approved standards.
Following the findings raised during the inspection, the ministry moved to take administrative action against officials implicated in the concerns identified.
The interdiction is expected to pave the way for investigations into the allegations and circumstances surrounding the issues highlighted during the ministerial inspection.
The development comes as the Ministry of Local Government intensifies monitoring of local governments across the country, with officials being urged to ensure accountability, transparency and proper use of public resources.
More details are expected to emerge as investigations into the Maracha District officials and the issues raised during the inspection continue.
