Muni University has held a media briefing ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony for its Teaching and Research Hospital, scheduled for Friday, 21 August 2026, at the university’s main campus in Arua City.

The briefing was addressed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Simon Anguma, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Rev. Fr. Prof. Epiphany Odubuker Picho, and Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Prof. Jacob Agea.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to attend the landmark ceremony as the Chief Guest.

The planned Teaching and Research Hospital is being described as a major milestone for Muni University, Arua City, the West Nile sub-region and Uganda’s health and education sectors, with the facility expected to strengthen medical training, research and healthcare delivery.

Ahead of the event, various university committees, including Engineering, Protocol, Welfare and Publicity, are working to ensure that preparations are completed and the groundbreaking ceremony is successfully hosted.

The event is expected to attract university stakeholders, government officials, community leaders and other invited guests as Muni University marks what it considers a historic step in its growth and contribution to national development.
