Organizers of the annual Madi Okollo District Cultural Gala are concluding preparations for the third edition of the two-day program, scheduled for the 21st and 22nd of February 2025.
This year, the cultural gala will focus on promoting tourist sites located in different areas of the district, and participants are scheduled to visit them on a guided tour by professionals.
Zahara Night, the Tourism Officer of Madi Okollo District, highlights that this year's edition of the gala will feature activities such as hiking on Mountain Luku, nature walks, birdwatching, tracing the white rhino trail, and a game drive in Ajai Game Reserve.
She says these activities will be alongside cultural performances of traditional music, dance, and drama by the host and refugee communities in the district.
The District's Social Services Committee Chairperson, Okello Fred Ayikobua, notes that the cultural gala will bring an opportunity to preserve the culture of the Ma'di people and guide the youth through their elders.
Meanwhile, a resident and domestic tourism enthusiast in the district, Ben Afidra, believes that the cultural gala will equip locals with knowledge of their culture and empower them to protect it.
Participants in this year's edition of the annual cultural gala will pay a fee of 100,000 shillings. Other planned activities in the cultural gala include night camping, a fashion show, and fun games.
