The Inspectorate of Government (IGG) has arrested former Arua District LC5 Chairperson Alfred Okuonzi, his son Pariyo Stephen and two alleged commission agents over the suspected theft and attempted sale of a government motorcycle belonging to Arua District Local Government.

The motorcycle, registration number UFA 401N, reportedly went missing after Okuonzi left office without handing it over to the district authorities.

Preliminary information indicates that Okuonzi allegedly retained the motorcycle after leaving office before handing it over to his son, Pariyo Stephen, who reportedly contacted two commission agents, identified as Felix Anguzu and Sisto Aleni, to look for potential buyers.

The two agents are accused of advertising the motorcycle and seeking buyers, prompting IGG investigators to reportedly pose as prospective buyers in an operation aimed at recovering the government property and establishing the circumstances surrounding its disappearance.

Okuonzi was arrested on Friday morning, October 30, 2026, alongside his son and the two alleged commission agents. The four were subsequently taken to the IGG headquarters in Kampala for further investigations.

The motorcycle has also been transported to Kampala as an exhibit to support the ongoing investigations.

The arrests form part of the IGG's efforts to investigate the alleged misappropriation and attempted disposal of government property.

The Inspectorate is expected to conduct further investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the motorcycle and the alleged involvement of the suspects.
