The Election Management Committee has officially declared Elias Luyimbaazi Nalukoola as the flag bearer for the upcoming Kawempe North by-election. The announcement was made on Tuesday morning following a thorough vetting process by the committee.
Nalukoola, a seasoned lawyer and politician, was selected to represent the party in the by-election, which was triggered by the vacancy in the constituency.
His nomination follows a competitive selection process aimed at identifying a candidate capable of effectively representing the people of Kawempe North.
Speaking after his declaration, Nalukoola expressed gratitude to the Election Management Committee and pledged to focus on key issues affecting Kawempe North, including youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and improved social services.
“I am honored by this opportunity to serve the people of Kawempe North. My campaign will focus on solutions that address the real challenges facing our community. I call upon all party members and supporters to unite as we work toward victory,” he said.
The by-election is expected to attract significant attention, with various political players already expressing interest in the race. As the official flag bearer, Nalukoola will now embark on mobilizing support ahead of the election date, which will be announced by the Electoral Commission.
Political analysts believe that the by-election will be a highly contested one, given Kawempe North’s political history and strategic significance in Kampala’s political landscape.
