Arua City
Arua City on Tuesday brought together hundreds of residents, leaders, and development partners for a joint commemoration of three major global observances: the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, World AIDS Day, and the conclusion of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

The event, held at Arua Primary Grounds, highlighted the city’s increasing commitment to inclusion, public health awareness, and the protection of vulnerable groups.
City officials, civil society organizations, and community representatives used the platform to reflect on gains made, ongoing challenges, and areas requiring stronger action.Speaking during the ceremony, leaders emphasized the importance of promoting equal opportunities for persons with disabilities, strengthening the fight against HIV/AIDS, and continuously addressing the rising cases of gender-based violence in communities.

They also called for reinforced collaboration among government departments, cultural institutions, NGOs, and the public to build a safer, healthier, and more inclusive Arua City.
The joint commemoration aimed to amplify shared messages of dignity, protection, and empowerment across all sectors, reminding residents that social inclusion, health rights, and safety are collective responsibilities.
