Arua city council authority together with Lush Environment conservation organization [LUSH] is organizing Arua city charity Marathon aiming at raising funds to get dust bins and also Educate the public on waste management through the recycling of the plastics battles, polyethene bags and others to reduce the dirt in the area.
While addressing journalists in the city hall on Friday 16th/12/2022, the Executive director of Lush Environment conservation organization [LUCO] Leah Victoria Nabakeera noted that Arua city is one of the dirtiest city in Africa according to world bank prevalence ranking that is the reason they embarking on such intervention.
Eunice Aleni, Miss world-Uganda –North for the year 2022_2023 says that the marathon will help to sanitize the people of the on the proper usage of garbages.
The marathon is intended to raise over 300 dust bins for the city, Mukhtar Lika, the sport officer appreciated the partners for the intervention.
Arua city generates about 150_200 tones of garbages on daily ,the health inspector of Arua city, Geofrey Apangu urged the public to interest themselves in recycling the waste.
The marathon is expected to take place on 14th of January 2023.
