Maracha, Uganda – Chairpersons of Emyooga Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (Saccos) in Maracha District have received a refresher training aimed at strengthening their leadership roles and improving Sacco performance.
The briefing, held under the Ministry of Local Government (#MDLGBriefing), brought together some of the best-performing Emyooga Sacco chairpersons from 30 districts across the country to share their experiences and best practices. The sessions focused on key areas such as Sacco sustainability, bookkeeping, governance, savings, shares, and enterprise selection.
According to officials, the peer-to-peer knowledge exchange was designed to inspire and equip local leaders in Maracha with practical insights to enhance service delivery and financial inclusion under the Emyooga initiative.
Speaking during the event, several chairpersons expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn from their counterparts. They pledged to implement the lessons learned to strengthen the management and operations of their respective Saccos.
The Emyooga program, a presidential initiative on wealth and job creation, targets market vendors, youth leaders, boda boda riders, and other special enterprise groups by supporting them to form Saccos and access seed capital to boost their income-generating activities.
Officials from the Ministry of Local Government reiterated their commitment to continued capacity building for Sacco leaders to ensure long-term sustainability and accountability within the program.
