Kampala, Uganda | May 21, 2025 – Security personnel on Tuesday conducted a search at the Kasangati residence of Charles Twine, the former spokesperson of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), following his mysterious disappearance and subsequent return under tight security.Twine, who had reportedly been missing since being summoned by police last week, returned home in the company of plainclothes detectives and officers from the counter-terrorism unit. His sudden reappearance came as a surprise to his family, who had not been informed of his whereabouts during his time away.

According to his wife, Kate Kabagenyi, the officers arrived at their home without warning and proceeded to conduct a thorough search of the premises. “They checked everything, but they didn’t take anything,” she told reporters. She added that although she briefly saw her husband, she was not allowed to speak with him or ask any questions.Authorities have remained tight-lipped about the reason behind both Twine’s earlier summons and the search operation.

No official statement has been released from police regarding his current status—whether he is under investigation, being protected, or cooperating with authorities in a sensitive case. The incident has raised eyebrows among security watchers and the public, many of whom are questioning the secrecy surrounding the former CID official’s case.Charles Twine served as CID spokesperson for several years and was known for his frequent media briefings on high-profile criminal investigations.

He was later reassigned to other duties within the Uganda Police Force. As the story develops, many are calling for transparency and respect for due process, especially given Twine’s former role in enforcing the law.
