The Uganda Christian Lawyers Fraternity, a non-governmental organization, is strengthening access to justice in Arua District, with a particular focus on addressing gender-based violence and human trafficking.
This comes after reports in 2025 ind9cated that GBV cases are high in Arua at around 27 percent which is higher the national average of around 25%.
The organization recognized that border districts such as Arua and the city are the most affected across the country, where however an average of 70 percent of the population can not afford the services of a lawyer.
In return they will be offering free legal services to vulnerable individuals and families who cannot afford the services of a lawyer, by helping them seek justice and protect their rights.
Beyond gender-based violence and human trafficking, the fraternity will also handle other legal matters, including land disputes and family-related cases at no cost.
