“We have done our part as leaders; the discussions and lobbying have been ongoing. What remains is for the President to officially declare the commencement of the project,” Hon. Songa said.
He urged the people of Greater Nebbi to stand in solidarity with their leaders to amplify the demand for the road’s upgrade, emphasizing that unity and consistent advocacy would speed up government action.
In his update on development efforts within the district, the MP outlined ongoing road maintenance initiatives. He noted that beyond the annual Ugx1 billion road fund allocated by the central government to districts and cities, he has also successfully lobbied for additional development projects under his role on the parliamentary climate committee.
Some of the projects he highlighted include the Local Climate Adaptive Living (LoCAL) initiative, Climate Smart Agriculture programs, and oil seed road projects, all aimed at enhancing rural resilience, improving agricultural productivity, and facilitating transport in the region.
