Mbarara, Uganda – May 4, 2025 — Mbarara City Football Club has officially parted ways with Head Coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi, the club confirmed in a statement released earlier today.

The decision to relieve Mbabazi of his duties comes with just four games left in the 2024/25 Startimes Uganda Premier League season. The club has not yet named his replacement but indicated that a caretaker coach will be appointed to guide the team through the remainder of the campaign.

"Mbarara City FC can confirm that a decision has been taken to relieve Charles Livingstone Mbabazi of his duties as the Head Coach," the club stated.

While no specific reasons were cited, the club acknowledged Mbabazi’s commitment during his tenure, expressing gratitude for his service.

"We’d like to thank Charles Livingstone Mbabazi for his passion and effort during his time as Mbarara City Head Coach and wish him the very best for his next steps in the game," the statement read.

Mbabazi, a seasoned tactician with experience across several Ugandan clubs, took charge of Mbarara City in hopes of revitalizing their campaign. However, the team has struggled for form in recent weeks, prompting speculation over his future.

The club now turns its attention to the crucial final fixtures of the season, as it aims to secure a respectable finish in the league table.

More updates, including the announcement of the interim coach, are expected in the coming days.
