Mbarara City FC becomes the second team to affirm early relegation from the top tier Uganda Premier League 2021/2022 season after five years in UPL. With only two matches left at hand, Mbarara City FC are second last on the table with 22 points collected from 28 game plays out of the 30 fixture matches. This means that even if they play the next two fixture games, they are just on preparation for the Fufa Big league.

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League,  relegation comes after a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to UPDF on Sunday at Kakyeeka on match day 28. Aggrey Kiirya and Rogers Mugisha scored the goals for the army side who climb to 7th place on the log with 36 points with Seiri Agumaho netting Mbarara City’s consolation. Defeat leaves the Ankole Lions second from bottom with 22 points, seven behind safety places with only two games remaining to end the season. They now join Tooro United, their next league opponents as the two sides that have so far gone to the Fufa Big League. Their focus will now shift to Stanbic Uganda Cup where they are in the semis and face Vipers in a two legged tie.
