Action is back again as the 2022/2023 Star Times Uganda Premier League Seasons resumes as of Today. The reigning Champions Vipers SC are set to open the season up against the Brightstar Saltillo FC as of Matchday Day one. 

As a unique season, the 2022/20223 Star Times Uganda Premier shall only feature 15 teams after the FUFA Executive decision to rule out the newly promoted Kytume FC on accounts of compliance failure. The season also presents as one of the most televised season in the history of the Uganda Football with over 200 games to be televised on both Sanyuka Prime and Fufa TV.  

The tables standing remains to the default setting on all accounts however Onduparaka FC will be applied point and goal deduction to effect the FUFA Executive committee ruling.

Match day one fixtures Friday 30thSeptember 2022

As the first day of the official opening of the season, All roads lead to St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende where champions Vipers get their title defense underway against Soltilo Bright Stars. The two sides will be desperate to start the campaign on a winning note and send a strong message to the rest of the league. Marvin Youngman who crossed the divide from being a star to a venom will be one of the key man to look out for in a fixture the hosts have dominated. 

In their seventeen meetings, Vipers have won 13 and lost none drawing the rest. Both teams are expected to hand league debuts to their new signings although Frank Kato Kizanyiro and Bob Olouch will miss out for the visitors as they are on loan from Vipers. Vipers SC start domestic life minus the trio of Halid Lwaliwa, Bobosi Byaruhanga and Ceaser Manzoki while it will be first time in over five years that Asaph Mwebaze returns to the dugout in the away technical area.

Other games will follow on Saturday with Wakiso Giants playing away to KCCA, Onduparaka visit URA, UPDF host seven time champions Express FC and Busoga United battling newcomers Maroons in Luzira.Still on Saturday, newcomers Blacks Power will play hosts to BUL in an early kick off before match day one wraps up on Sunday with Gaddafi visiting record winners SC Villa at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.
