West Nile artist LP Shaady has been remanded to Arua Prison following a court session held earlier today, deepening concerns surrounding the legality of his arrest and prosecution.

Renowned lawyer Obadia Ismail Otim, a.k.a Yankee Cool, has strongly criticized the events, insisting that the charges brought against the artist have no legal basis.
Police earlier stated the arrest was linked to “Offensive Communication,” yet legal experts note that Section 25 of the Computer Misuse Act — previously used for such charges — was struck down by the Constitutional Court in 2023 for violating freedom of expression.

Following today’s court appearance, Yankee Cool expressed frustration over what he described as malicious and politically motivated actions.
“We shall deal with him after. If they proceed to court on Monday, we shall sue him for malicious prosecution — unless he is sharp and lets the matter pass,” the lawyer stated.
The case has also taken different directions for the co-accused. Carlos, although his bond was signed, has reportedly been kept in police custody for ‘security reasons’, and may remain there until authorities deem it safe to release him.
However, the biggest blow came today when LP Shaady was formally remanded until further notice, following a court session that surprised many who expected the matter to be resolved quickly.
The artist has been transferred to Arua Prison, drawing emotional reactions from fans, family, and fellow entertainers.
With the next steps expected on Monday, Otim warns that any continued prosecution will result in a strong legal counteraction for malicious prosecution and abuse of process. This story is still developing.
